Mark West Wikiup Preserve

Sonoma Water is pleased to own the property of the former Wikiup golf course as of May 2024. The 30 acres will be utilized as a wildlife preserve and educational hub for the community. A hiking trail will support the ongoing maintenance of existing sanitation pipelines on the property while allowing public access to explore and learn about the importance of the Mark West Creek to the Russian River watershed. Sonoma Water's strategic plan focuses on increasing community engagement efforts along with protecting and preserving critical environmental habitats while supporting the collection and treatment of drinking water for more than 600,000 residents and portions of Sonoma and Marin counties. Sonoma Water is coordinating the implementation of both the conservation and recreational easements of the property with the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District.

Property updates

We will update this webpage to ensure our community has the most updated information on the property, including the most recent mowing event, property improvement and student educational activities.
