SANTA ROSA, CA – Water customers throughout the North Bay will be able pick up a free water saving kit during a three-county “Drought Drop By” event on June 12, 2021, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sonoma Water and its partners in the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership encourage all water users in the Russian River watershed to save water. Every drop saved helps maintain water flows in the Russian River and extends reservoir storage levels.
 
“The Drought Drop By event is a great way to get water saving tools into our community’s hands,” said Jennifer Burke, director of Santa Rosa Water. “To achieve necessary water savings, we all need to take action now by eliminating water waste and adopting water smart habits, like shortening showers and reducing your irrigation, or achieving permanent savings by installing water efficient devices.”

The Russian River watershed is in a historic drought. The region has experienced the third driest water year on record over the last 127 years. Lake Sonoma and Lake Mendocino water supply levels have reached historically low levels. Without additional rainfall, it is critical that aggressive water saving by our communities occurs now. The Water Advisory Committee (WAC) to the Sonoma County Water Agency (Sonoma Water) and the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors have adopted a resolution calling for 20% voluntary water conservation. Directors of the Marin Municipal Water District have adopted mandatory restrictions aimed at achieving 40% water use reductions.

Drought Drop By on June 12th, 2021, 9am-1pm

Free drought toolkits will be distributed to participants who drop by on a first come, first served basis. While supplies last. Limit one kit per household.

Keeping everyone’s health and safety in mind, COVID safety protocols will be in effect. Please wear a mask and follow social distancing protocols. Participants should remain in their vehicles if they drive to the event and stay 6 feet apart if they arrive on foot or bicycle.

Kits para el ahorro de agua gratuitos en el evento regional “Para la Sequía, Para Aquí”

Usuarios de agua en todo el norte de la bahía pasaran para recoger un kit gratuito para el ahorro de agua durante el evento “Para la Sequía, Para Aquí” en tres condados el 12 de junio de 2021, de 9 a.m. a 1 p.m. Sonoma Water y sus socios en Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership alientan a todos los usuarios de agua en la cuenca del río Russian River a ahorrar agua. Cada gota que ahorramos ayuda a mantener los flujos de agua en el río Russian River y extiende los niveles de almacenamiento de las presas.

Tomando en cuenta la salud y la seguridad de todos, los protocolos de COVID estarán en empeño. Use un bocal (cubrebocas) y siga distanciamiento social. Los participantes deben permanecer en sus vehículos si conducen hasta el evento o mantenerse a una distancia de 6 pies si llegan a pie o en bicicleta.
