Water and Energy Education Program

The Water and Energy Education Program utilizes a multifaceted approach to help students learn the value of water as an important natural resource. Our programs are FREE and aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. We teach inquiry-based, exploratory science. We provide classroom visits, field trips, and curriculum materials for teachers and their students. Our goal is for students to become environmental stewards and informed citizens who can examine the world through an inquisitive, scientific lens.

This year we welcome Healdsburg to the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership. For the first time, students and teachers in Healdsburg will have access to all our education programs.

We are also partnering with the Russian River Watershed Association to provide stormwater education programs in Cloverdale, Sebastopol, Ukiah, and unincorporated Sonoma County. Schools in these areas will have access to our third and fifth grade programs, poster and video contests, ZunZun assembly program, and teacher workshops.

Our program is made possible through Sonoma Water, the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership, Sonoma Clean Power, and the following local water providers: the cities of Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma, Sonoma, Healdsburg, the North Marin and Valley of the Moon Water Districts, and the Town of Windsor. This year, we are partnering with the Russian River Watershed Association to provide stormwater education in Ukiah, Cloverdale, Sebastopol, and unincorporated Sonoma County. Water and energy education programs are free due to funding from these partners.
